FYI, all of our files are scanned by two anti-virus programs, McAfee and F-Prot, before I can touch them.
We also test all programs for adware and spyware. If we find any, we toss the packet in the bit bucket.

pcb145.zip 1.17mb 1992 PC Board BBS platform, version 14.5. Complete. A smooth running edition from 1992, and our favorite PCB edition. All the files are here. We are told there is one Y2K problem. It involves running automated events. This can be fixed using a hex editor. In the PCBOARD.EXE and PCBOARDM.EXE files, search for the string 12-31-99 and change it to 12-31-78. This PCB Serial Number 020336 is registered to me and will install with my board name, Freeware Hall of Fame. Since that name is Service Marked and still in use on the Internet, please change the name of your BBS to something else. Thanks.

drwy231.zip 236kb 1996 Marshall Dudley's DOORWAY program used by PCBoard to create Doors. Doors allow BBS users to run programs and display files the sysop created for them. Clicking on a Door allows the user to leave PCBoard for a specific purpose and automatically return to the BBS when he's done. Doors aren't required to run a BBS but they add a great deal of versatility, personality, and features to any Board.

wsftp46.zip 350kb 12-05-2000 Freeware FTP program. In our view WSFTP is the best program there is for sending and receiving files over the Internet. Simple and foolproof for novices to install and use right out of the box. Easily customizable. Extensive automation makes it a snap to service a web site. Runs under all versions of Windows. Automatically installs 16 or 32 bit as required. Automatically interfaces with all Internet site operating systems. Does not contain the hidden spyware that Steve Gibson Research discovered in rival program CUTE FTP. (Nothing at the Freeware Hall of Fame contains spyware. We check it all.) This version of WSFTP is freeware.

02-01-1993 Freeware ZIP and UNZIP programs for making ZIP archives and unpacking them. The late Phil Katz created the ZIP format and these 2.04g versions were his most developed. Works fine in all versions of Windows and a DOS box. Instructions are self-contained in the programs. PKUNZIP.EXE is required to open the ZIP archives distributed here and elsewhere that are not self-extracting EXE programs. To unzip an archived file, the command line is a simple pkunzip [filename]. For ease of use, install PKZIP.EXE and PKUNZIP.EXE in the root directory or a directory that is in the Path on your PC.

With the plague of spyware and other trojans going around it's nice to have trusted freeware to find and control it. That's what Start Up Monitor does, and it's available from this site: http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml

StartupMonitor is a small utility that notifies you when any program sets itself up - without asking - to run at startup. It prevents dangerous or merely useless applications from getting into the Window register behind your back, so it acts as a security tool against trojans like BackOrifice or Netbus.

StartupMonitor has been tested on Windows 98, 98SE, ME, NT4.0, 2000, and XP. It does not function correctly under Windows 95.
